Helping Local Storm Victims

God’s Pit Crew has been working in the northern part of Pittsylvania County helping those who were affected by the weekend storms. After being contacted by Pittsylvania County CERT team director Jim Davis, God’s Pit Crew was led to the home of Virginia Mayhan who sustained a large amount of damage from the storms. We also have calls out to the other areas affected by the storms and tornados to see what we can do to aid the people in those areas as well.

God's Pit Crew Responding to Multiple Tornados in Virginia

God's Pit Crew departed on Wednesday, April 30th to help with the Disaster Relief efforts in Suffolk, VA after multiple tornados hit the area on Monday.  Many homes were damaged some even completely destroyed.  We took 3 tractor trailers loaded with supplies, tools, and equipment as well as 2 dually trucks and trailers hauling skid steer equipment and 15 volunteers.  Our volunteers worked 7 days cutting trees, moving debris, sifting through the rubble to help residents find anything they could salvage.  Our crews worked alongside Operation Blessing and Samaritans Purse.  Our volunteers worked at least 80 different work orders for the residents of Suffolk, VA.

Please visit the Photo Gallery for updates on our progress.
